Gotchas

My first Gotcha was I didn't understand how big all these "captured" images are.  Be sure you aren't running out of hard disk, as windows will crash if free space gets to small.  Consider an external 500 GB USB HD.  Sorry, more stuff to plug in, wire to trip on, etc.  I decided to leave at least 10 GB free before starting an evening, then after I finished the imaging, I would copy them to my server HD (which just as easily could have been a external HD).

Cloud cover and dew setting can ruin an observation.  Cloud cover and due points can be checked via www.noaa.gov.  They have an hourly chart you can select which data points to graph.  Actually quite kool.

Another obvious gotcha is tripping over the cords.  You should consider what objects you are observing and setup your computer and cables on a side of the telescope where you will not need to go.  Maybe put a chair where the cords are to keep you from walking thru the cords.  Think this happened to me ?? ;)
